Tiktok is alive!
It is time to look back on big news that happened during February. From Superbowl adverts to new TikTok trends, there has been so much to LOVE over the last month.
In January, we saw the rapid fall and return of TikTok, and during February, the app has made a rapid recovery like it never even left. With the return of tiktok, we have seen brands lean back into the channel with renewed trust and bringing us so many new iconic campaigns. Let’s take a look!

Duolingo axes iconic brand mascot
Whether you love or hate the app, Duolingo is a source of inspiration for Social Media Managers everywhere. They have a fresh and upbeat approach to their marketing strategy that has redefined how brands should approach social.
The face of all their social content has always been the iconic Duo bird, but in a video originally shared on TikTok after the SuperBowl, the brand killed the beloved mascot off. The news stretched past one app’s reach and was being discussed on Twitter and Instagram too.
In the end, this appeared to be a tactic to announce a new costume for their mascot, but was a great lesson in how developing a narrative with your audience can lead to bigger and more impactful conversations.
Aldi Show the community some love
Over on Facebook, Aldi’s comment section had gotten some major love as other brands jumped in on the fun. Aldi came back with some punny responses of their own and the conversations went viral across multiple platforms.
What can we take away from this? Viewing every brand as your competitor is not always the way to go. With connection being one of the things most buyers are looking for, they want your brand to seem as human as possible, which means you need to be interacting in other brand spaces where you can. Find brands adjacent to your industry and niche and interact with them to grow your own audience.

Send to a friend
Another Instagram insight! If you’re looking to grow your audience then sends and shares are the top metric you should be watching. Content that is shared to other accounts will help grow your following as it signals the algorithm to also show your posts to more users via Explore, recommendations, etc.
Likes are the essential metric to watch if you want more of your followers to see our posts.
